I started work at Goodwill on April 2nd. Everyone got paid the day before I started. Two weeks later everyone gets paid again, except me!! Am I really going to have to work basically for a full month before even receiving my first check?

Usually, there is a One Pay Cycle delay in processing a new-hire's check.

Sound like GW is on a Twice Monthly Pay Cycle. so. . .

You started on Apr 2, AFTER the Apr 1 Paycheck. YOUR first pay period will be SUBMITTED for payment on April; 15, and your first CHECK will be May 1.

Had you started on MAr 31, you payroll woul;d have been submitted in Aopr 1, and you would haev received a check -- for one or two days -- on Apr 15.

yes, it IS common for business to schedule your "first day" like this. Gives then TWO pay cycle to get all of your internal paperwork (tax forms, etc) set up in the Human Resources Department.

Usually biweekly paychecks reflect the days worked in the two weeks before the week the paycheck is issued. This gives the Payroll Dept. time to process the information.

In this case, April 2nd was for the weeks ending March 18th and March 25th. Since you didn't work those weeks, you didn't get a check that day. The next payday was April 15th, covering the weeks ending April 1st and April 8th. You worked one of those two weeks and should receive one week's pay.

Speak to your supervisor or call your Payroll Department to see why you didn't receive your one week's pay. By next pay period, April 29th, you should be on track to receive two weeks' pay.

You should ask your manager or HR at Goodwill when you'll get paid.

They probably hold back two weeks. You'll get paid on the 28th.

that will depend on the pay periods, if they pay once a month depending on the ending date of the pay period, you should have pay within 4 days of the end of that pay period of the time you worked

you may have started in a pay period that is not the one being paid

Why don't you ask the only people who can answer you, the people who employ you
