I filed my taxes on January 21, 2009. I checked my refund status at irs.gov today, January 28. It stated that my refund was deposited January 23, and if it wasn't in my bank account by the 28th to contact my bank first, then the irs. So they often deposit the refunds early.

HOWEVER...I checked and my refund isn't in my account. We called our bank, and they said they had not received anything and that we are not the only one to call them with this problem. We called the irs three times and each time got an automated message that due to technical difficulties our call could not be put through. Just a heads up that things may not be running very smoothly right now on the irs end of things.

OK. I checked on my "Where is My Refund" IRS page this morning and it stated that my refund was direct deposited on Jan. 23, 2009. It also stated that If I haven't recieved my refund by Jan. 28, 2009 to contact them. Well, I just got off the phone with them. The representative told me that there was no way that the refunds could be ready that quickly, there must be an issue with the website. He checked on the status of my refund and advised me that it will be deposited on Friday Jan. 30, 2009. I was suffering from anxiety like most of you, worrying about my money being lost. So don't worry, we'll get it. Thank goodness.

You'll get it on January 30th.

The reason the online "where's my refund" may say "on or before Feb 3rd" is because they deposit the 30th, but a small % of people's bank take a few days to process it and the IRS doesn't want you calling before the following Tuesday.



Personally, I always got it according to the IRS schedule. A few days before the deposit date, it will say "your direct deposit in scheduled for 1/30/09. I've only heard of a few people last year having it take a day or two longer because they had the fees taken out of their refund.



I find myself every year on this site looking up questions and worrying of all possible scenarios and it always comes on time.Don't Worry!

According to the IRS refund cycle chart, the first direct deposits will be done on Friday Jan. 30. they only do deposits/mail out checks once a week on Fridays.



So, no, you will not receive it on Jan. 26th. Sorry.



I would go with the IRS guidelines, since they are the ones handing out the money.

I filed my taxes on 1/20/09, efile with direct deposit. Feb 3rd was the first date to come up on the IRS refund site. This morning I woke up to, "your refund was direct deposited into your account on 1/23/09, if you don't receive it by 1/28/09, contact your bank." I called the bank and they had no evidence of any deposit or anything pending. I called the IRS and was told right off the bat that there was no way a payment could be sent before 1/30/09. I explained to their rep about what I read on their website and he looked it up and said I was correct, but not to worry, I would receive the money on 1/30/09. I had him double check all of my information, including my bank account and routing number and everything checked out. If it's not in my account by 1/30/09, I'll be calling first thing in the morning.

Same exact thing here. Supposedly, it was deposited on the 23rd. I was double checking my account numbers and everything. Called the bank, and they know nothing. The IRS refund line also says I have received my refund, but it will not transfer me to a person. It says to call back today. I had my refund rejected due to a computer glitch about 12 years ago. 8 million people had their eic rejected because they were under 25, but we all had children. It took 2 months to get our refunds. The IRS having computer problems again scares me. I've been on hold this time for 30 minutes. I doubt I'm going to get anywhere, either.

I also was told that I will recieve my refund by Feb. 3rd.....however, after looking at some responses, I just checked again (on the IRS website) and it says that it was deposited on Jan. 23rd?! I know my bank posts it to your account within 24hrs......so that can't be riight. I wonder what's going on? Shery, did you ever get anyone on the phone from the IRS yet? I checked IRS today and I filed mine on the 17th which was on the weekend. This morning it says that my refund was direct deposited on January 23, last Friday and if I haven't received it until today that I should call. Unfortunately I haven't receive it... then again my bank is stupid... so I have a feeling my stupid bank rejected it for some reason and I should have had my refund last Friday! I'm so aggreviated.

I just want to clear up some things the irs website gives an esitmate of when they are wanting to have your refund to you but usually its a bit faster by a few days or so and the rapid refund dont come fron the irs they come as a loan from a bank until the irs pays the bank back later in the tax season the only returns that are sent to the irs are the the 2 week bank products of course the irs get a copy of all refunds including the rapid refund but does forward any monies at that time they give the bank acknowlegments that they will be repaid for the rapid refunds I would say any day I knw some people got theirs on Wed last year and Mon so check your bank and not the website sometime the website isnt updated and the money is your account before the website is even updated

I had the same problem. Yesterday it told me it was still being processed and I should receive by Feb 3. Then this morning the IRS system says it was deposited on the 23rd and I filed on the 21st. Now we all know the IRS is not that fast! I didn't even waste time calling because I knew it was a glitch! However I was hoping it would have come through, but when the money did not appear in my account, I wasn't surprised at all. I am going off gut that the money will be there Friday the 30th because it always seems to come in a couple days before the date given on the website. My Friday direct deposits go through on Thursday mornings. I will keep everyone updated if money goes through tomorrow. I think some people maybe worried because if IRS deposits money and it doesn't show up it's very hard trying to get your money. Please never write your bills and mail them without money in your hand because anything is possible!! I hope everyone calms down and enjoys the rest of their day. YOU ARE NOT ALONE!

Hi, I efiled on 1/18/09 with direct deposit and until today, it said to expect it 2/3/09, then suddenly today like everyone else it say it had been deposited on 1-23-09 and check with bank if not in account by 1-28. Of course, not in bank. So, I called Irs, waited 20 minutes, but got a very nice lady who knew it was wrong. She did check my refund and said it would deposited on 1-30-09. The website cannot find my refund, however, if you call the 1-800# it now says, deposit expected on 1/30.

I just got of the phone after 30 mins on hold with IRS. Said they received tax return on Jan 17th 09, but it has not even been processed yet. Even though the "whats my status" claims it has already been deposited on the 23rd and should be in my account no later than the 28th. They still have not released funds yet according to their records BUT it is possible the money has been released. All he could say was wait until tomorrow it might be there, but there is no other way to track it since the website as well as the automated refund status says the money has already been deposited. So basically no one knows where my money is or if it has been released or if not when it will be. If you want to call the number is 1-800-829-0922. First off, you shouldn't have been able to file your taxes until the 16th of January. No one is able to do it before that date. So even though you think you filed on that date, it probably didn't process for another 2-3 days. I filed on the 16th and received my state return yesterday the 27th. So I should receive my fed in the next 2 days or so. But it isn't only Fridays that the returns go in so I don't know what the person below me is talking about, and if you efiled, they should have sent you a confirmation email when it was accepted telling you the date it is to be deposited. I think it should go in about a day or two before the date on that email. I would check to see if you got a confirmation email, if not, you might want to look into making sure you did everything right. Also, just some advice, never look to your return for paying bills on a certain day. Be prepared, you never know what might happen. Good luck.

I filed mine on the 17th and the site told me by feb. 3rd.. however i check it everyday and now this morning it stated it was deposited on the 23rd. There is no way that it is correct. I have had the same bank for years and I know that the deposits do not take more than 24 hrs.



I have a feeling the web site is messed up like every other state or federal agency, however I am on the phone now with the irs and i will suffer through the hour hold time expected and see if they can tell me anything more than a bunch of nothing.

I have the same problem as everyone else. I filed on the 16th, the IRS website says the refund was deposited on the 23rd. My bank has no record of it, but I have never recieved a refund before the IRS deposit cycle starts. So weird. Does anyone have a better # to call than the automated refund #? Like everyone else, it said deposited the 23rd, well its not. I called Republic Bank (the bank through taxactonline.com) and the automated thing said they're expecting mine on the 30th.

I think there is some glitch. I hope mine don't change to the 10th! I filed the 19th and got accepted the 20th. I was offered "get your refund in 10 days with our deluxe filing....". Friday will be the 10th day.

Efile.com says the 2nd, IRS said the 23rd, and the bank says the 30th...WTF?!



How is everyone talking to a rep? I've called 3 different numbers and get the same recording about the 28th. How am I supposed to check with the IRS if I can't get to a human?!

I've tried 1800-829-1040, 1800-829-1954, 1800-829-0922 and go round and round with a recording.

I found the Bank's number through the site, but its not help either.



I really hope its in there Friday. Like everyone else, I have a ton of bills to pay.

Mine changed from the February 3, 2009 message to the Your tax refund was direct deposited on January 23, 2009. If your refund is not credited to your account by January 28, 2009, check with your bank to find out if it has been received. Please wait until January 28, 2009 before you contact us again because we are unable to take any action until then.



Same issue as everyone else, there was no deposit on January 23. The IRS website is incorrect. The schedule for this year states that Disbursements begin on January 30, 2009.

This is crazy, and here I thought I was the only one going through this... I e-filed on the 16th, and the IRS website reported that I should receive my refund by the 3rd of February. I checked this morning and the website reported that my refund had been deposit on the 23rd, and if I didn't receive it by the 28th, then I should contact my bank. I called my bank BB&T, and the Customer Service Rep (CSR) told me it didn't come through. The Bank only accepts deposits through the ACH, and that I needed to contact the IRS. So, I called the IRS and the first CSR I spoke with couldn't tell me anything and kept apologizing. Finally, he gave up on me and hung up. I kept asking why if the website, and automated refund hotline service reported it was refunded he could tell me anything. Again, I called the IRS and spoke to a different CSR. This time I used a different approach and told the CSR that a lot of people were supposed to received thier refund on the 23rd, and haven't. I also asked if there was something wrong with the system, the CSR said "no," I also asked if it had anything to do with the stimulus checks, the CRS said "no." Finally, I asked if I was the only with this issue, and if anyone else had the same complaint. The CSR said "this is the first I hear of this." The last thing the CSR told me was that is could take up two three weeks for them to process the taxes, which was totally different then what the 1st CSR said, and he said it would be sent to my bank on the 6th.WHAT IS GOING ON?

I have a similar problem. Yesterday the website said it would post to my bank account friday Feb. 6th and be available by the 10th. Today I checked and it says it will be deposited January 30th and if I don'tsee it by Feb. 4th to give them a call. Is it possible that my refund will come early? I filed on January 23 before 11 am. First of all thank you to the poster!!! I too am having the same problem but I can't get through to a human! I called the bank and they said they don't show any pending deposits for the next 2 days. So I'm assuming that the direct deposit will be sent on Friday and we won't receive it until Saturday, Sunday or Monday. I'm so upset I saw that my money should have been there by today at the latest and so I sent out all my bills... I hope I don't make it into the overdraft! Can someone please tell me how you're getting through to a person over the phone???

Yup, me to. The "where's my refund" website on irs.gov was just updated this morning stating that my direct deposit was deposited on Jan. 23, but to wait till Jan. 28th before contacting the IRS if I have not yet received my refund. I called my bank first thing this morning and they have nothing from the IRS, not even anything in pending status.



From the responses coming on here this morning, looks like the "where's my refund" website has inaccurate info. I would rely on the original schedule of Jan. 30th for the IRS to begin deposits.

I too filed and was accepted on Jan 20th, and turbo tax said I would receive my refund on Jan 30th; this morning when I checked the refund status on irs.gov it said it was deposited on the 23rd and should be there by today, Jan 28th... of course this was a mess up because it's not there and all the people on here are having the same issue...

MY QUESTION IS...has anyone checked SBBTRAL.COM to see if they have received your refund first?... they are the ones who will be sending the direct deposits to the bank, when they receive them from the irs..

SBBTRAL.COM has not received my refund yet, so are they gonna have it by Friday the 30th to give to me????

The irs only deposit on Friday's, I'm a professional tax rep. The IRS website says mines was suppose to be deposited on Jan. 23 and if not posted to my bank account by Jan. 28 to give them a call. I'm giving them a call right now too see whats the problem. I will keep everyone updated on the status, but i really think the refund will be deposited on Jan. 30 because thats a Friday & thats the date i was told it should be there.

I had the same problem as the rest of you. We filed January 16th..After freaking out that my refund was NOT in my account as stated on the IRS "where's my refund' page and the IRS refund hotline... I have called the IRS twice and have been told they do not send out refunds before the 30th and yet, I filed my aunts taxes on Jan 19th and she received her federal refund yesterday the 27th! I told this to the woman at the IRS and she didn't know what to say.. I've been told just to wait untilt he 30th, that is when they are SUPPOSED to be deposited. Lets hope they are right!

i filed on the 22nd at night. mine too said refund date of the feb 3rd. then this morning it said it was already direct deposited the 23rd. i called bank as well and they said no. Now irs website says it will direct deposit on the 30 which is wierd cause i filled on 22nd after 11. I called sbbt(SBBTRAL.COM ) this morning and they told me it would not deposit until the 6th. Mine was accepted on the 19th. I went direct deposit with tax cut. It was sayin I would get it by the 3rd. Now it is saying the 10th. Like I said I went D.Deposit and it is not saying anything but the 15th day is up for deposits on the 30th so I wonder, will I get mine friday. I called the hotline even it is saying by the 10th. I checked mine this morning, its still saying I should receive it by Feb 3 . I do know that the IRS released the first of funds last Monday, this was for the 1-2 day rapid refunds so I am not sure about the e-filed refunds.

You will receive your direct deposit when the IRS has completed processing of your 2011 tax return. If you are checking WMR daily then you won't be getting an accurate date, you must only check once per week, IRS only updates on weekends. good luck

Mine says it was deposited on the 23rd as well. I called my bank (where my aunt is the VP) and they have no record of a deposit, nor have they had any rejections. I have a feeling that there is a glitch on the IRS website. I'm going to continue trying to contact them today.

Anyway, we used turbo tax and if you go to SBBTRAL.COM you can check your refund there too since turbotax sends it to the irs and the irs sends it to santa barbara bank to deposit to turbotax customers. It said some crazy stuff too but I will be looking for it on the 30th as originally stated on SBBTRAL.COM website.

Probably Jan 30th , Did you check on the IRS website to see what date it gives you under where is my refund ? That give me a date of Feb. 3 which is a Tuesday so who knows. I guess they get there when they get there.

IRS refunds only go in on Fridays. The first week was held up due to problems with the info regarding last year's stimulus checks. It has been a never-ending nightmare. You'll get it this Friday.

I also filed mine in the same time frame, and the IRS chart states the 30th, but when I got to IRS.gov to check on it, their site tells me I should receive it on or before Feb. 3rd. The IRS site is when they transmit it to your bank, and then it takes 3-5 business days to post to your account, depending on which bank you use. That's the way the ACH clearinghouse system works (that's the system that handles bank transfers/direct deposits)

MIne was accepted on the 17th and the WMR page stated February 3rd. Then it said February 10th and then it said they had no information to check back in a week. The IRS site is messed up. If you filed between the 16th and the 22nd you will get your refund on the 30th. That mean's it will hit your bank that day not necessarily available that day.

I filed on 16 Jan and got reply that was accepted on 17Jan, and it my deposit date was 30Jan, few days ago changed to 03Feb and today changed to 10Feb. what is going on?
