Turbo tax offers a service which allows you to pay the fees do to them by using your actual return. I believe that the return in then deposited in their account and then deposited into my bank account. Does the irs still count this as direct deposit or will I get the payment in the mail? OR Does turbotax still transfer your account number to the irs?

-----If you had your refund sent by check, your stimulus refund will be sent by check.

-----If you had your refund direct deposited to your account, your refund will be direct deposited.

-----If you had your refund direct deposited in your account but your TurboTax fees were deducted from the refund by SBB&T, your refund will be sent by check.

-----If you had a balance due, your refund will be sent by check.

That's not a direct deposit to your account by the IRS. You'll get a paper check in the mail. The IRS doesn't have your bank account details, the tax prep firm's partner bank does. Therefore the IRS cannot direct deposit your rebate.

From TurboTax's website:

Economic stimulus payments are also known as "tax rebates" and are a result the recent enactment of the Economic Stimulus Act of 2008.

TurboTax does not ask for deposit information for your economic stimulus payment. However, the IRS says taxpayers who use certain financial transactions with third parties to obtain their refunds will receive their rebates by mail—even if they got or will get their refunds by direct deposit.

THAT TOTALLY SUCKS!

No, if your refund went to them to take out the fees and then they sent you the rest of your refund, you'll get a paper check in the mail, so it won't be real soon.
