The income was made from translation jobs, for which payment was received via PayPal. I need to know what Tax form I need to use to declare this type of income. Please be specific as to what extra form is required and what line/s on the 1040 are affected.
Also, I'd like to know if I can deduct expenses, like computer use, phone, electric bill, for these jobs, if they were done from my home-office...if so, please let me know what tax form to use, and where.
Thanks so much!

this is a Sch C and probably Sch SE as well

you might go to www.irs.gov and request publication 34 for information you are asking, it will help you determine what you can and cannot deduct as expenses

You need to file a Schedule C- small business owner : 0. You can deduct your home office and related expenses -8829, 4562 is for Depreciation & Amoritization (computer) Also don't forget Sch SE- your social security . New this year is Sch M- "making work pay credit" for people who actually worked to get an income. Turbo tax will take you through all of this step by step, some of the other softwares will also, I'm just not as familiar with them (i've used Turbo tax for more than 8 years) You are going to affect your gross income on your 1040 (you will have to go long form) Good Luck!!

Schedule C or C-EZ and schedule SE, and a 1040. The schedule C total goes to line 12 of the 1040, the SE total to line 56. Expenses are deducted on the schedule C. Only expenses attributed to the income earned can be deducted. For example, on your phone bill, any long distance calls about the translation jobs that are billed individually. Home office expenses, including utilities, only if you have a separate area of your home that you use regularly and EXCLUSIVELY for your translation work - if you use that area for ANY other use, forget the home office deduction. Computer use - prorate for business vs other use, and keep a log.

There are a pair of issues: First income taxes have been decreased because of the $800 artwork tax credit. 2d is once you replaced your W-4 and took a million exemption. once you alter your W-4,you may desire to allow for the style of paydays left in the 300 and sixty 5 days. you ought to have left your W-4 on my own and then take the exemption to your spouse on a Married-Joint return and set some money aside in the time of something of the 300 and sixty 5 days to help conceal any added taxes. some married human beings point out Married on their W-4 and then verify the "Withhold at single fee" and take 0 exemptions. this allows the main money to be withheld in the process the 300 and sixty 5 days. you may estimate your gross income and tax criminal duty for 2010 and divide the tax into particular quantities to be withheld from each and each pay era or paycheck. Then video demonstrate your income and taxes in the process the 300 and sixty 5 days plus placed some aside in a value reductions account in the process the 300 and sixty 5 days as a secure practices internet in case you ought to fall short. in case you overpay the taxes, you saved some money plus pastime and you may placed some or all your refund into the cost reductions account. The IRS needs the taxpayers to get their W-4's set so as that they are not getting a reimbursement or owe added taxes. you probably did no longer state in the experience that your spouse had any income for 2009. If her withholdings have been low, which could additionally reason you to owe the IRS considering the fact that the two earning are blended on a joint return to create a million tax criminal duty for the two one in each and every of you.

Schedule C and SE. Go to Turbo Tax or H&R Block at Home and they will guide you through it.
