Does anyone know what is going on with this ridiculous tax increase proposal by Governor Quinn? He wants to raise payroll taxes on middle (that's me and hubby) and high income families from 3 to 4.5% and double wammy, wants to increase license plate registration fees. SO he wants to reduce our income and make it more expensive for us to get to work. Is anyone else as annoyed as I am? We didn't waste the money in Illinois that created the deficit. I've already written to him, received no response, of course.

As long as the Chicago Political Machine is running Illinois AND Washington DC we will all suffer from corruption, waste and tyranny.

We are getting what we voted for.

Throw all of them out of office and MAYBE we will stand a chance.

Lets try following the Constitution for a change.

I left Illinois 16 months ago and now live in South Eastern Indians where I bought a much nicer home than I hag in Illinois for $100,000 less than I got for selling the little shanty I lived in there. My property taxes are about a quarter of what they were and my environment is much cleaner. I have a representative who actually believes in free enterprise and small government. My job pays more and I work a 40 hour work week, not 60 + (uncompensated) like I did in Chicago-land. My commute is 20 minutes through a beautiful wooded area with no traffic jams. My wife now enjoys life and can find nothing to complain about.

I must be in heaven.

As a fellow resident of Illinois, I understand. (By the way, I voted against Blago at every opportunity.) I have never been a big fan of Quinn. However, Illinois has to pay its bills. Money has to come from somewhere. At least Quinn is also proposing to cut down on one of the biggest expenses (public employee pensions). If there were a time limit on the tax increase I wouldn't mind it so much.

If you don't like his tax increase, I would be interested in hearing your proposals to save the billions of dollars in the deficit plus the billions owed from prior years.

If I were emperor, I would confiscate all the assets of every crooked politician in Illinois and the assets of those who paid the bribes to get government money. Unfortunately, I don't have that power, so some combination of tax increases and service cuts is on the way.

Y'all didn't really think kicking Blago out was gonna change anything, did you?

And now you're seeing it on a national scale - since your Senatorial Prodigy became our President.

No disrespect intended, Mrs. C. I know where your heart is on this.. You need to kick the Daley Democrat Machine out of Illinois politics.. and replace them with real conservatives.

Hey, you could always move down here to Red State Land... our winters are nicer, too ;-)

Future PP is right. The only problem is it is impossible to kick out democratic machines anywhere. You are right, your vote won't count until people get back to voting in competent reps instead of ones with star power and so-called charisma. It truly is a slobbering love affair.
