at www.irs.gov you will find a section called 'forms', that is where you will find what you need

also they are 'publications' and you can find #17 there, if you read it, down load it or order one at 1 800 829 3676 that should help you

your state will have a similar site for forms and publications check it out

your mother would need to find those forms for 2010, personal exemptions were $3650 and her standard deduction depends on her status, is she married fling jointly or head of household

the publication 17 will indicate the amount

You've gotten a lot of info and links already, mostly correct.

Actually, many of the 2011 federal forms ARE available on the IRS website, You can't file yet though.

And yes, the tax tables change every year so you have to use the correct year's instructions. You could just look up what you need online though rather than print out the whole booklet.

State income tax forms would be available at the Kansas state income tax department website for this purpose.

And of course the tax year 2011 forms will NOT be available until some date and time in January when the forms will be released out to the public for filling out and the filing of the 2011 tax year income tax return.

Welcome to the Kansas Department of Revenue's website

www.ksrevenue.org/

IRS 2011 tax forms wil NOT be ready for use until the IRS has them ready to release for use at some time in January and they will NOT start accepting any 1040 income tax returns for processing until January 17 2012.

Use the search box at the www.irs.gov website for Tax Products, including forms, instructions, and publications for previous tax years.

Type 1040 in the box
