I was assigned a tax return assignment but the professor would like us to use the forms from 2012. I cannot find any of the necessary forms to complete this project. I need Schedule A, Schedule C, Schedule SE (Form 1040) for 2012. I can only find the instructions to complete these forms at irs.gov but any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Go to the www.irs.gov website and use the search box for PRIOR YEAR FORMS

http://apps.irs.gov/app/picklist/list/priorFormPublication.html

Enter 1040 in the find box

You are almost there!

Have you looked at www.IRS.gov/forms&pubs/ ? Click on the middle button for "Prior Year Forms & Publications".

Because this file has all forms and publications for all years going back to year one, at the top of the next screen you need to type in 2012 and select "Revision date" in the next box.

Then click on the column heading "PRODUCT NUMBER" to sort the resulting list by form number. Skip over to about page seven to start looking for the forms you need.. Print out two copies of each form. One to scribble on, one to prepare and turn in for your homework.

HINT: Start with the Schedule C and SE. But if there is depreciation involved, start with the depreciation schedule (Form 4562 page 18) first and work your way back to complete Form 1040 last.

Good luck!

You can find them here: http://apps.irs.gov/app/picklist/list/priorFormPublication.html

First put in the form number and then look for the year you need.
