Problems with irs they say my information is wrong?

hi i have been trying to get my taxes transcript for the past 4 days online. But the irs says my social security or something is wrong. they say my info does not match my taxes.But I have been typing in everything correctly.

You see my step mom did my taxes this year. I was going to go to H&R Block but she threw a fit so I let her do it. Big mistake she waited till the last minute to do it. she put put both of our taxes into to different envelopes then put them in the same envelop.

the irs put my taxes under the wrong social security number. so I can't my tax transcript till its fixed. which means I can't get any federal aid for school. getting really tired of this mess.

If I had to guess it may have been put under my brother social secruity number. because my step mom put both of our taxes into to different envelopes then put them in the same envelop.

Is this a rare problem for the IRS or common? How screwed am I? Is this going to affect me? How can it be fixed?

I tried calling them on the phone but I can't get back the machine. of hitting 1 then hit 3 for blah blah.

and yes im aware of me being adult i should have filed my own taxes or do something else.

Im so tired of dealing with federal aid because of all this tax stuff.

it would appear your step mother also did not make copies of what she prepared for you, your brother and her-- I don't get the idea of separate envelopes inside one main one whew!

anyway with the problems you are having and not being able to get a free transcript it might be a good idea to pay the $57 to get a copy of your tax return--of course with an incorrect SSN this also might be a problem

also the OFfice of the Tax Advocate might be able to assist you here sine they would be able to check other SSN's until they finally are able to find your tax return

Sending them the way she did should not have been a problem. Do you have some reason to think yours were processed under your brother's ss# or are you just speculating?



If they were mailed at the last minute, it's very likely no transcript is available yet.,

Someone trying to call on the phone is not a rare problem. It is a very common problem. You fix it by sending them a written letter, in the mail, and not making any more phone calls to them.

And did she make you and your brother a copy of your 2013 1040 FIT return when she did correctly complete them during this 2014 tax filing season when she did print the copies to be signed by each one of you and then to be mailed into the IRS for processing at that time.

Can take some extra time before the IRS does even get started on processing the 2013 1040 FIT returns when they were mailed in for this purpose during the 2014 ta filing season for your 2013 1040 FIT return.

Most likely the transcript is just not available. Mailing in a return takes and extra month or so. If you need to do this for the FAFSA then you need to take responsibility and have it efiled yourself.

When you look at your copy, what does it show?



1. For the SSN?

2. For income?

3. For credits? (though there shouldn't be any)

4. For refund?
